Would this be some sort of abuse?

I'm using the film Friday Night Lights as a reference. I'm using the film because my mother acts the same way to me as Tim McGraw's character acts acts towards Garret Hedlund, minus the taping of the football. She isn't as violent, although he hits me for one reason or another a least once a month. I always thought that was normal though. I don't know why. Anyways, she has that same sick way of putting me down like Tim's character does. That way of guilting you into feeling bad when you didn't do anything until you cry. Sometimes she even does that same weird, "This isn't an apology, but I didn't mean what I said." thing. That's not often though.
